Bodycam patch v0.8 #3: host crash exploit fixed, bans, and attachments up to 30% cheaper

The September 8, 2026 patch is the most important one since Locked & Loaded, for two reasons: it closes a security exploit and reworks the much-criticized economy.

The exploit: a host could crash everyone else

Reissad found a way for a session host to crash other players' games by spawning hundreds of entities. Bodycam runs peer-to-peer, so the host plays a special role in every match.

• Players found abusing it were banned.
• The patch fixes the issue.
• According to the studio, the only confirmed use was causing those crashes. It found no evidence of access to personal data, despite rumors online.

The studio also owned a mistake: it took a full day to communicate because it wanted to confirm the facts first, and it admits it should have said it was investigating sooner. It also says some people were flooding social channels with unverified claims to fuel review bombing.

Economy: cheaper, with private lobby rewards

Reissad admits it had attacked "the symptoms" (blocking farming) instead of the real problem: progression was too slow. The changes:

• Currency earnings return to private lobbies, at 50% of the normal rate. You can now progress playing with friends or bots.
• Attachment prices drop by 25-30%.
• Fixed a Versus exploit that granted excessive currency.

Why 50% in private? Bodycam is a PvP game first. If everyone farms in private lobbies, public matches empty out and matchmaking suffers. It's a reasonable balance.

What it means for you

• If you were playing in private with friends because there's no party, you now earn points.
• If you were saving up for attachments, this is a better time to buy than launch week.
